There was no danger of a penalty shoot out today.
The Ravers were in total control and never looked like conceding a goal, let alone losing the match.
With a strong wind behind their backs, the Ravers pinned the visitors in their own half from the start and it was no surprise when Macey opened the scoring with an excellent shot from just outside the Belles penalty area.
Sixty seconds later, Macey scored again, this time with a shot from the other side of the box.
Five minutes later, Katie scored the first of her two goals, a fine shot after a strong dribble through the Burton defence.
And it wasn’t long before Katie added her second, and the Ravers fourth, by deflecting a shot from Macey into the back of the net from close range.
There was no way back for Burton Belles after that but, to their credit, they never stopped fighting and with the wind behind them in the second half they managed to stop the Ravers from adding to the score.
The Ravers could have won by eight or nine goals today.
Several players came close to scoring – Jodie drove the ball just wide on a couple of occasions, Leah had a shot saved after a nice passing move, Chloe chased the ball down and was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet, Macey caused panic in the visitors defence every time she had the ball and Alex flicked the ball onto the bar from a corner.
In goal, Louise was a spectator for most of the game but pounced on the ball confidently if it came anywhere near the Ravers goal.
It should have been tough playing football in the near gale force wind today but the Ravers made it look pretty easy. Misha, Leah and Alex stifled the rare Burton attacks and the rest of the team knocked the ball about nicely and took their chances well.
A very confident performance.
next game: home to Barton in the league on Sunday 29th.
