Team performance (out of five):

I expected the girls to be a bit rusty and slow after such a long lay-off but I was wrong! They started fast and positively, passing the ball around the Barton players as though it was a practice session.
We lined up with Danielle in goal, Hannah and Lauren in defence (Alex was injured in the warm up), Leah on the right of midfield, Jodie on the left with Macey holding the centre. Chloe was the striker.
Before kick off, I asked the girls to get the ball out wide to Jodie and Leah who would take it down the wing and cross it back into the middle for Chloe or Macey to run onto. And they did it very well. Leah and Jodie saw a lot of the ball and there was a lot of good passing and movement from all our players.
Before long, Chloe scored our second and her first goal. Then she added another….and another.
Just before half time, Jodie weighed in with a very good goal to make it 5-0 to us at the break.
In the second half, Lucy and Rhiannan made an impact on the game, Rhiannan coming close to scoring several times and Lucy tackling hard in midfield.
Midway through the second half Chloe scored again with a rocket shot and Jodie hammered one against the post.
All in all, a very impressive performance. In fact, several parents said that our first half performance today was the best football the girls have played this season.
Five out of five, well done.
