The girls overcame determined resistance from Barton to progress to the semi finals of the U11 cup competition today.

We started the game well. The girls looked very lively, we won balls all over the park and Macey ran nearly the full distance of the pitch to almost score what would have been a brilliant solo goal. We also had several more chances to hit the back of the Barton net  - all inside the first two or three minutes!

We had lots more goal scoring opportunities in the next twenty minutes but the home team defended well and it took a powerful strike from Alex just before half time to break the deadlock. A great goal and just what we needed.

The second half started the same way as the first half finished. We passed the ball around, attacked in numbers and Barton defended stoutly. But it was no surprise when HSH (Hot Shot Hopkinson) got on the scoresheet with the first of her three second half goals – another hat-trick, well done Chloe!

Everyone played well today. Danielle looked happy running around her penalty box, Hannah and Alex worked well together and were very solid in defence, Leah tackled hard, Rhiannan pestered the Barton defence, Chloe chased the ball down as well as scoring three goals, Lucy was strong in midfield and it was good to see Macey get a just reward for another tireless performance with a well taken goal.

Another enjoyable game :)
