Team performance (out of five):

The Ravers had to work very hard for this win against a much improved Barton side.
We started well on a cold, sunny day and it wasn’t long before “I’m going to get two goals today!” Rhiannan put us in front.
But midway through the first half a Barton player cut in from the left wing and fired a a hard shot across the face of the goal that left Danielle (making her comeback in goal) no chance.
The girls soon got back on top, however, when Rhiannan scored her second goal of the game from close range and we went into the break 2-1 up.
During the break it was clear that Danielle was unwell and she had to go home. So Alex put on a bib and went in goal (thanks Alex!) and we were forced to play the second thirty minutes without any subs.
For most of the second half the score stayed at 2-1 and Barton were always in with a shout. But our defence held firm (ably assisted by our midfielders who never stopped running) and Alex wasn’t troubled.
The second half seemed to last forever (!!) but with about five minutes to go (or it could have been seven, it was hard to be sure) Chloe – who had rattled the bar a couple of times – slotted one in to kill the game off.
The Ravers team played some good football today. They all know how to play in their positions, they support each other, make runs off the ball and are generally maturing into a very competent team – I even saw a one-two…I think :)
They also have a lot of confidence. None of them are afraid to take the opposition on head to head and it’s great to see them enjoying their football so much.
Certainly, if we had taken all our chances today we would have scored eight or nine goals. But the main thing is that the chances are being created and it won’t be long before we start putting more of them away.
Top stuff
