Team performance (out of five):

The girls took another big step towards the league title today when they beat Westcliff. They also stretched their unbeaten run in the league to twenty-eight matches.
The Ravers were in charge of the this game right from the first whistle. But despite their domination, they found it difficult to hit the back of the Westcliff net.
We started slowly (perhaps the result of rather a long gap between this and our last league match) but they were also very tentative. It seemed as though the girls were nervous of stamping their authority on the game.
In the first half we didn’t trouble the Westcliff ‘keeper at all, despite playing almost the entire thirty minutes in their half of the pitch. At the other end, Danielle made a good save to stop Westcliff’s only shot – a long range effort – from putting them ahead.
The girls did play harder in the second period and finally the deadlock was broken. Chloe took a great corner and Leah volleyed the ball into the back of the Westcliff net. A really good goal :)
The girls relaxed a bit after that, passed the ball around nicely and eventually we scored again. This time Jodie re-discovered her scoring touch following a nice assist from Leah.
The girls played well today. All we need to do is be a bit more positive in front of goal and be a bit more determined to win the ball when it’s bouncing around.
