Team: Chloe, Jodie, Lucy, Macey, Danielle, Leah, Alex, Lauren.
Result: won two, drew five. Finished fourth in the group stages. Lost in semi final.
It was a bit windy at South Mellior School today [note to me: must confirm location of tournaments in future!] and the gazebo took a hit…but at least it didn’t rain much :)
We were up against some good teams today. Most were older and the better teams were faster and more skilful than the teams we played at Butlins last weekend.
So going unbeaten through the group stage and only losing 2-0 in the semi final to the team that won the group must be considered a satisfactory performance.
The defence was solid as usual and our midfield/attack threatened every team we played against.
In my opinion, the passing was good and there can be no questioning the commitment of the girls to always do their best.
I’m very happy with the team right now. They are playing just the way I want them to play: with the freedom to run, dribble at the opposition and take risks. I see no reason to change the way they play or the way I coach/manage them.
But it would be nice to play a tournament on a non-windy day for a change :)
