Result: girls won on penalties.
Goal scorers: Rhiannan [2], Alex, Danielle, Sam, Steve [2], Collette.
The annual girls v mums match was hard fought. Neither team wanted to lose…and it showed :)
Collette opened the scoring for the mums after five minutes with a well taken shot from close range but Rhiannan brought the scores level a few minutes later.
Alex, Sam and Rhiannan made the score 4-1 to the girls and it seemed they would finish easy winners.
But the mums – and dads – had other ideas.
Danielle was unlucky to turn the ball into her own net to make it 4-2 then Steve scored twice to level the match at 4-4.
Time for penalties!
After five tense penalty kicks each the game was still tied…..
Sudden death wasn’t really all that sudden but eventually the girls came out on top with Alex making the final, deciding save.
Some good skills were on show from both teams, there were some funny moments - and some embarrassing ones – and everyone had a good time.
And no broken bones or heart attacks, thank goodness, although there might be some aching legs tomorrow ;)
