Hello Boys. We Are About to Join You…

Award winning inventor Gwyn Harvey from South Wales has proposed simple adjustments to bring real glamour to the beautiful game – and a way to allow male and female players to enjoy it together.

Read on…

Gwyn proposes that a diagonal line be added between the penalty boxes so that the pitch is split into two equal areas. This allows mixed teams to play against each other with the girls in one area and the boys in the other.

The beauty of this set up is that there is no physical contact between the sexes – but they would have to play as a team, passing the ball, as in each team either the boys or the girls would have the attacking advantage. Each team would need two goalies, male and female, who would swop at half time.

Gwyn can see no reason why this should not now be the normal arrangement in schools as they have an obligation, under the Gender Equality Duty 2006, to provide gender neutral provision of services. Not only would the changes cost next to nothing but schools could save on timetabling and staffing costs. If any schoolgirls wish to approach their head teacher, Gwyn will provide a full copy of the proposal that details the rule changes. His e-mail address is [email protected]

He also proposes changes to rugby which would also allow girls and boys to play together as a team.
