After her charges registered a comfortable 4-0 victory over Austria last month, Hope Powell has named an unchanged squad for England’s two-legged UEFA Play-off match for the FIFA Women’s World Cup, against Switzerland.
The first leg will be played on Sunday 12 September at Shrewsbury Town’s Greenhous Meadow Stadium (kick-off 7.05pm) while the second leg will take place on Thursday 16 September in Wohlen.
Powell said: “[Switzerland] are an improving side with some talented young players and they will want to be in Germany next year as much as us. They will be working hard to try and get there.
“We must now prepare ourselves diligently for these two upcoming games and ensure we give ourselves the best chance to qualify. Our first objective to make sure we get a good result in our home fixture at Shrewsbury Town.”
The last time England faced Switzerland, in the Cyprus Cup in March, the sides drew 2-2 with the England goals coming from Casey Stoney and Lianne Sanderson.
