At a meeting of the SHLL committe on Tuesday 22nd Feb, it was decided not to take any action against Solar or Broughton in respect of the abandoned game on 23rd January 2011 but both clubs will be advised as to their future conduct.
The match is to be treated as abandoned under the SHLL rules. No points to either team. It will not be replayed.
At the meeting, the Solar manager was censured for calling the alleged incident ‘assault’ and for coming onto the pitch uninvited by the referee and taking his players off. He was reminded that only the referee has the power to call off a game.
We were censured for allowing a parent to stand behind our goal.
No comments were made by the league regarding:
- the alleged off the ball incident that led to the abandonment of the game (neither myself, the Solar manager or the referee saw it),
- the allegation that one of the Broughton parents made threatening remarks towards the Solar parents,
- the remarks made by a Solar parent towards Chloe or
- that one of the Broughton parents was ‘aggressive’ towards the Solar players.
other than saying it was Solar’s word against ours!
