Match report – Barton v Broughton U10s

Sunday, November 29th 2009

Result: 8-1

Team: Ami, Chloe H, Chloe J, Chloe B, Lauren, Leah, Olivia, Macey, Jodie.

Goals: Leah, Macey, Ami, Jodie, Lauren, Chloe H (3)

The instruction today was ‘go out there an pass the ball’ and that is what the U10s did.

The first half performance was among the best I’ve seen from this team; confident, strong and skilful. They gave the impression that they knew they would score goals and that they would and go on to win the game. It was simply a question of how many goals they would score and who would do the scoring.

We went into the half time break 7-0 ahead. If I hadn’t made any changes we would probably have scored more than seven in the second half.

But changes were made and it was pleasing for me to see that the team’s performance wasn’t affected by who was on the field and where they were playing.

Highlights: Hard to pick out a few from the many but: Leah’s goal was outstanding, Lauren’s smile after her goal went in was nice, Macey never stopped running, Olivia is looking more and more confident in goal.

What we could do better: on today’s evidence, not much.

Player of the match: Leah (played in defence when she really wanted to play in midfield and provided excellent cover for Lauren when she went on a run)
