Match report: Broughton Ravers U10s v U9 boys

Broughton Ravers v Solar

Sunday, February 7th 2010

Result 2-3

Team: Chloe H, Rhiannan, Lauren, Elizabeth, Leah, Macey, Olivia, Danielle and Jodie.

Goalscorers: Jodie (pen), Macey

The Ravers were all over the boys  ;-) in this friendly but didn’t get the result they deserved.

In the first half we started well, had most of the possession and a lot of attempts on goal. With a little more determination in the penalty area we would have been two or three up in no time. But the boys hung on (their keeper had a good game) and they managed to score first.

This didn’t worry the girls who continued to tackle hard and it wasn’t surprising when Macey levelled the score from close range.

The second half went on in much the same way. The girls had most of the play but couldn’t convert chances into goals and the boys went ahead following a goal mouth scramble.

But we drew level again, this time from the penalty spot. One of the boys handled in the area and Jodie stepped up to blast the ball into the top left corner of the net.

The boys scored the winner late in the second half when a low cross skipped past our defence and ricochetted into the net off a boys knee.

Despite pressing hard in the last few minutes (and a few dodgy decisions in our favour from the ref!) the girls couldn’t score again.

The boys’ team manager was very impressed with the way the girls played and told me that ‘you’ve got a good team there’.

He’s not wrong!
