The Ravers wore their new red and white kit for the first time in this cup match and they looked good in it.
It was also their first match since mid December and it took quite a while for them to get into their stride. The muddy, bumpy pitch didn’t help.
Westcliffe are a decent team and it was always going to be a battle. Macey and Chloe H both came close to scoring and the home side had a couple of chances as well but our defence (Lauren, Ami, Chloe B and Danielle) was solid and we got to the interval at 0-0. .
In the second half Chloe H showed that she hasn’t lost her goalscoring touch and found the net twice within the space of ten minutes to put the Ravers in control of the game.
But Westcliffe came back at us and reduced the deficit to a single goal with about five minutes to go. They could have scored more but for some excellent goalkeeping by Olivia. One save – from a fierce close range shot – was outstanding.
With a couple of minutes to go Jodie cooly slotted in our third goal (through the Westcliffe goalie’s legs, nice one!) and the game was won.
