Match report: U10s v mums

Result: 5-2

Today’s annual (and eagerly awaited) girls v mums match ended in a 5-2 win for the girls.

It has to be said that the mums were lacking match fitness and were clearly struggling after the first five minutes. They soon resorted to shirt tugging and some fairly crude attempts to trip the girls but to no avail. The girls  – even playing for much of the match without a goalkeeper – were just a bit too skilful.

That said, the mums did display some skill. I think Rachel has been practising her ball control and Collette showed that there was some tactical thinking going on; she was lurking around the girls penalty area for much of the second half.

All the mums did very well (I have to say that!) and I’m grateful for such a good turnout.

The girls clearly enjoyed the game and I’m sure it will be an end-of-season fixture for many years to come.

Some action…..

Even more action (can you stand it?)
