Cambridge University Women and Peterborough Ladies kick off at 7:30pm in the final held at Histon FC.
The crowd were entertained throughout as the teams provided a gripping and skilful display in this closely fought contest.
The drama started within the first two minutes when Peterborough took and early lead. Cambridge were caught off guard when a shot was driven from midfield found the net with little opposition.
The match was evenly contested but Peterborough looked in control once they scored their second goal on 10 minutes. The ball was crossed in from the wing into the penalty area. This was headed on for a Peterborough forward to volley home at close range.
Both defences were put under pressure and eventually Cambridge got back into contention with a high volley from outside of the penalty area , on 22 minutes, which dropped over the keeper who had little chance of saving the shot.
The second half was equally as close. Cambridge University found and equaliser about 10 minutes into the second half. The match continued without a clear dominance from either team.
The final drama was left for the last 2 minutes of the game, as extra time approached Peterborough Ladies won a corner. The ball sailed straight into the far post before anyone had a chance to get a touch to the ball for Peterborough to win the match 3-2.
Peterborough Ladies collected their trophy and winners medals but both teams must be congratulated on contributing to a very good game of football.
