Team performance (out of five):

Awesome – that’s the only way to describe the girls performance today.
We had most of the possession in the first half but struggled to turn our superiority into goals. Several Ravers had a chance to score but no-one could quite get the ball across the line while at the other end Danielle, Lauren and Alex were very effective is stopping Barton from even coming close to scoring.
The deadlock was finally broken by Jodie who hammered a brilliant long range shot into the top of the Barton net after twenty minutes.
In the second half the girls really turned it on. Alex and Lauren were formidable in defence, stepping in front of the Barton players and making some great challenges. And when they got the ball their first thought wasn’t to hoof it up the field, it was to make a pass or go on a run themselves. Their confidence spread throughout the team and soon all the girls were passing, tackling and playing really ‘switched on’ football.
It was a pleasure to watch.
Then Hot Shot Hopkinson decided to get going. Chloe had been threatening to score for most of the game but she left it until the second half to really show us what she can do. Chloe scored her first goal after about ten minutes. Then she got another, and another, and another and another. Chloe got a total of five second half goals and there was a big smile on her face!
Chloe was on top form today but so was the whole team. Rhiannan, Alex, Leah, Jodie, Danielle, Lauren, Chloe and Lucy looked the real deal and by the end of the match Barton were totally demoralised.
It was a five star performance from the girls. They were very, very impressive.
