This was the first tournament the final Ravers girls’ team attended – and the first tournament that they won.
The U10s travelled to sunny Mablethorpe today and came back with the UK Football Tours East Coast Cup.
The girls played some confident, attractive football and scored some great goals, beating Mablethorpe U10s twice and Town Green – a top team from Manchester – to take their first trophy of the summer.
We passed the ball around, were tough in the tackle and took our chances in front of goal.
It was good to see Chloe H back in top goalscoring form and Macey making powerful runs at the opposition. Lauren – ‘they shall not pass!’ – was her usual tough self in centre defence, Jodie tormented the other teams’ defenders and Rhiannan had some nice touches in midfield.
But special mention has to go to the goalkeepers:
- Leah pulled off some great saves (I’m sure she loves playing in goal really) and took on more than her fair share of the goalkeeping duties ‘for the sake of the team’,
- Jodie showed us that goalkeepers don’t need hands 🙂
- Chloe Batty saved some very hard shots in our first game against Town Green, hurting her wrist in the process.
- Ami was very brave in the second half of the second match against the team from Manchester, pulling off a last second save that kept us in top spot.
All in all, it was a great day. Lovely weather, good football, everyone was smiling and we won the trophy!
