This website recalls the many successes of the Broughton Ravers girls’ teams who played football in Broughton, Lincolnshire between 2004 and 2016.
It also has a section devoted to the new Broughton Ravers girls team – the Bumblebees – who will be following in the footsteps of the original Ravers’ and playing league football at U12 in the 2022/23 season. If you would like your daughter to play for the Bumblebees please contact Steve Watson on 07840055462 or email footy4kids@gmail.com
Broughton Ravers also welcomes girls of all ages who want to play football. Our Wildcats sessions are very popular! Please contact Mark Fox – mafox49@googlemail.com – for more information.
Girls that played for one of the four Broughton Ravers girls’ teams between 2004 and 2016 were very good at playing the ‘beautiful game’. They won lots of league titles, cups, tournaments and awards. They also learned valuable life skills – being a ‘Broughton Raver’ taught them self-respect, self-confidence, how to be strong in defeat and gracious in victory.
They discovered that hard work + effort + pride = success, they made lots of friends and they all had a lot of fun.
The teams also brought benefits to the local community. Parents of players formed friendships and shared experiences at football tournaments, cup finals and – for many at least – at the local pub after the game!
While all the girls’ teams were successful in their own way, (one of the first Ravers’ girls teams played an Australia team at futsal, for example, as well as winning many league matches and tournaments), the Ravers team that played from 2010-2016 was amazingly successful. More about the Ravers girls’ teams.
This website includes a selection of match reports from 2009 to 2015, the history of the four Ravers girls teams, team photos, photos of individual players, player and team awards and more.
